The 4th Indian Open National Kickboxing Championship 2012 was successfully conducted from 19th to 22nd January 2012 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Bawana, Delhi. The event sanctioned by National Kickboxing Federation i.e. IAKO and hosted by Delhi Kickboxing Association.

Organising Secretary Mr. Harsh Dahiya informed that more than 900 Kickboxers of all the ages both in Boys and Girls categories in TATAMI & Ring

Sports in Semi, Light, Full Contact, K1 Rules, Musical Forms & Aerokickboxing were taken part along with the Officials from 22 IAKO member States/UT’s.

More than 71 Official Referee and Judges conducted the entire Championship under the leadership of the Championship Director Mr. Pradyumna Behera(Odisha) along with Mr. Biswajit Kakoti, Mr. Santosh K. Agrawal, Mr. Dony Ranee, Mr. Wasim Ahmad, Mr. Anil Kalyan, Mr. Anand Balu as the Asst. Directors of various Tatami & Ring. For the first time the entries and fixtures were done by Software.

It is expected that IAKO will follow the online entry system for any forthcoming events in near future.

The Opening Ceremony on 19th January 2012 inaugurated by Chief Guest Hon’ble Padam Shree Satpal, Additional Director, Directorate of School Education, DELHI Govt.accompanied by Engineer S. S. Harichandan President, IAKO & Sh. Raj Singh, President, IAKODelhi as Guest of Honour.

The Closing Ceremony was held on On 22nd January 2012 and Dr. Sukrit Sharma, MD, IAMS was the Chief Guest; along with Engineer S. S. Harichandan President IAKO as the Guest of Honor and awarded the Champion Trophy and Medals to the winners.

Delhi bagged the Team Champion Trophy followed by Manipur and Haryana as Runners Up.

“Indian Association of Kickboxing Organisations” (IAKO) is the only member National Federation from India representing the International Federation

i.e. “World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO)” in the field of promoting/controlling Kickboxing sport in the country since 1994. IOA and

Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India has sanctioned our National Kickboxing Team to take part in “Asian Indoor Games” of OCA in 2007MACAU, 2009BANGKOK

and “1st Asian Martial Arts Games” 2009BANGKOK where our members brought laurel by winning many medals including Gold medal.

“School Games Federation of India” (SGFI) has been recognized IAKO and included Kickboxing as a competition sport in “National School Games Championship” since 2006.

“Association of Indian Universities” (AIU) has already recognized the efforts of IAKO and became its member since 2007, hence soon we are going to introduce Kickboxing in College and University games.

Founder of IAKO Engineer S. S. Harichandan(7th Dan Black Belt & WAKO Referee) informed that the Kickboxing was incorporated into the Asian Martial Arts Games in 2009, Asian Indoor Games 2007 & 2009 and 1st World Combat Games at Beijing in 2010. Further we are concentrating for the year 2013 where there will be two most important International event the “2nd WORLD Combat Games” by involving 13 Combat Games such as Kickboxing, Karate, Judo, Wushu, Taekwondo, Aikido, Wrestling, Boxing, etc. at Saint Petersburg ’organised by SPORTACCORD under the aegis of ‘International Olympic Committee (IOC) & the “4th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games” organised by the ‘Olympic Council of Asia’ at Incheon, Republic of Korea.
